Ive been lucky enough to hang out in Noosa Heads for the last week and I’ll be here for another week Its almost 35 years since the last time I spent any time here. A lot of things have certainly changed. Sunshine beach … where I saw some of the best beach breaks Ive ever seen in 1978 ! … is now full on suburbia and Hastings street (the main st of Noosa Heads that runs along the beachfront ) is a cool and groovy place to sit and sip Lattes . The beach is...
Read MoreGraham King foam master
Recently on a trip back to my old home town of Cronulla I dropped by the Graham King factory on the Pacific highway, Kirrawee in the Sutherland Shire. Back in my early teenage years in the seventies at the very same address I purchased all the materials to have a go at making my own surfboard from scratch for the first time … and then went back for the second time and third and …. Walking in I wasn’t surprised to see Graham working in the factory …...
Read MoreThe people you meet and photograph

Read MoreSunset in Candi Dasa, Bali
I noticed these small waves splashing up in the sunset glow as I was walking past
So I rushed and got my water housing and these are a few of the resulting images
Bali was christened long ago “The island of The Gods” and I think the spectacular sunrises and sunsets may have something to do with that
Old shots from the Archives
I’ve been a Photographer for many years
I was shooting surf back in the 70s I’m trying to raise some funds so i can get some of these classic old shots scanned.
Maybe you can help in return Ill give you a substantial discount on any of the old prints once they are available
Living on the beach
I just recently moved from the high rise Ive been living in to a classic little place opposite the beach. One of the great things about that is when the conditions are right, I can just grab my housing and walk out the front door in my wetsuit and shoot a few … pretty cool These are some of the little beach breaks out the front yesterday 20th June...
Read MoreDiverse Surfboards
I just noticed on Twitter that Feral Dave (Dave Veral) of Diverse surfboards on the Gold Coast Australia is laid up in a hospital in Singapore after test riding one of his custom Flowrider boards. These shots are from a few weeks ago when Dave was building the flowrider boards. Dave produces a wide range of surfcraft that come from his factory at Tweed Heads. You can see Diverse shapes at their showroom at Tugun on the Gold Coast highway or check out Dave’s site...
Read MoreDiverse Surfboards Photo shoot at Fingal Head
Cruised down to Fingal Head last week with Feral Dave and a few of his riders. We tried Letitia spit near the sand pumping jetty but the peaks were shifting around so much it was no good for shooting from the water. So we decided to look for something else. We found a nice little bank in front of the Surf Club at Fingal, it was pretty small but the water temperature was great and crystal clear. I got a few nice shots of some tiny tubes as well as a few of the boys…...

Its been another beautiful week of weather, here on the Gold Coast. Its a pity I had to spend most of it in front of the computer working. On Monday I managed to get some time out to go out on the ‘Whale Watcher’ a local Charter boat in Tweed Heads. There was plenty of whale action and even a very new calf … that was possibly only a few days old. Here’s a few of the best shots from the day. You can see more of the photos from the day by clicking...
Read MoreThe Hunt for the Great White Whale – Migaloo
Migaloo the only completely white Humpback whale in existence recently made an appearance off the Gold Coast. And I was lucky enough to get a few shots of him!! I first heard about Migaloo from Tony and Carol Hunt of Aquatic Blue Charters, a Whale Watching charter boat based in the Tweed Heads / Coolangatta area. they had actually come in contact with this amazing animal when they were working out of Port Macquarie in 2005. Carol gets pretty excited when she sees any...
