Late afternoon session at Duranbah , Kirra Teams Challenge 2009

Surfing Photography is really a lot like surfing. It takes a lot for the conditions to come together , but when they do it can be very rewarding. For the last few days Ive been covering the  Rip Curl Kirra Teams Challenge. Yesterday the conditions were less than desirable all day, but as everyone was packing up . I noticed the sun had come out and was lighting up the surf with a nice warm light. I spotted young local Jack Freestone smashing a few lips so I grabbed my gear...

The Coolie Kids ….All grown up!!!

Posted in Gold Coast, News

There’s something quite surreal about living in Coolangatta and surfing Snapper Rocks aka the Super Bank all the time. Apart from being the most crowded wave in the world and believe me it can get so crowded it does seem unreal…….. Imagine if you were a golfer and went to your local Golf course to tee off and every time you turn around you bumped into one of the world’s top golfers!! This is what it’s like surfing Snapper, As you paddle around trying...

Bustin Down the Door or How to lose all your teeth in Hawaii

Posted in News, Reviews

‘I was held under water, pounded round the back of the head, then pulled up and pounded in the face. They knocked all my teeth out and flattened my nose. I had cuts all over my eyes and lips. I finally blacked out and that’s when one of them gave me a giant backhander and brought me round and ordered, ‘Swim to the Beach,’ and I just said, ‘Ah that sounds like a good idea.’ excerpt from ‘Bustin down the door’ Biography of Wayne...
